Setting a Scene

I really enjoy exploring my hometown as well as traveling to new places and capturing the unique qualities of its outdoor scenes. I challenge myself in finding interesting vantage points or foreground elements to help punctuate the aesthetic. Lighting has the ability to really transform a landscape – weather too. I can get multiple ‘looks’ from a landscape scene just from variations in time of day and atmospheric activity. This adds a great spark to what could get dull – shooting the horizon.

I used to not care much, but now I try to make sure all horizons are appropriately level. Finding interesting foreground elements has proven to be a challenge at times, but typically adds a great visual spark to my landscapes
