Entice & Inform

I’ve come to find that product photography is all about enticing the viewer’s eye and then informing them about the particular forms or features that lay within. So, with commercial products, I try to light them in a retail fashion, frame the subject to make them seem as impressive as possible and then search for interesting details to accentuate. When I shoot creative abstracts of products, I look for an interesting vantage point and really exaggerate a feature or aesthetic that is often overlooked. It’s a lot of fun.

Tips & Advice

When shooting or evaluating product photography, consider the following.

  • ‘Activated’ Framing – Energy
  • True-to-Life Representation
  • New Perspectives – Learning
  • Excitement & Imagination
