These photographic opportunities are all over. Sometimes, I simply stand still in the forest and watch for movement. Other times, it requires moving a log or stone to discover what lies beneath. Curiosity and patience pays.
Familiar critters – in a new light.
Here we have the bugs, pets and barnyard animals that most people are (at least somewhat) familiar with. The goal with these photographs is to capture the subject in an interesting setting or with an engaging look. There wasn’t any magical techniques used to create these images, just being in the right place at the right time, keeping my eyes open and having a quick trigger finger.
Once I identify a subject that I want to capture, I try to quickly set exposure and then shoot from several angles (often times, low to the ground), to get a dramatic shot. That way, I’ve maximized the moment and have a variety of options to select from in post.
