Unorthodox Creativity

Traditional event coverage doesn’t interest me, so sometimes I take on projects as a second, complimentary photog. And hey, sometimes you gotta just go for it to get those creative shots. Standing on chairs, climbing ladders, shooting up through a drum, getting outside the building (shooting in), etc.

Gettin’ together. Socializin’. Mixin’ it up!

Shooting social events can be challenging on several levels. Lighting conditions change quite quite a bit and are hard to rely on. Guests are on-the-move (moments are fleeting). Sometimes a social mixer is contagiously inviting and, at times, hard to keep from joining right into the party. Despite all these photographic challenges, the end product is worth the concentration and effort. I love capturing magical, candid moments of people having a good time; deeply significant, emotional experiences; and the occasional mass chaos.

Sometimes focusing on the unexpected is just what the moment calls for. A microphone, a light fixture, someone’s fork, pocket, purse, shoes, sheet music, etc.
