It is said that the first wedding portrait photographed was that of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1854 by royal photographer Roger Fenton.
I do… sometimes.
Sometimes? Yeah. Well, ya see there are certain aspects of wedding photography that I don’t particularly enjoy: group ‘posed’ shots, pressure of capturing specific moments, impromptu demands from family and guests and the general commoditization of the wedding photography industry. Shooting weddings well makes for a long, tiring day.
I enjoy being hired as a second shooter that is given the opportunity to shoot candids, details and really creative shots in a low-pressure arrangement.
The upside of shooting weddings is: a day full of emotion/anticipation, people looking their best and having a good time, lavish decor, range of activity from quiet ceremony to crazy dancing, etc. The range of photos that can be created on a single wedding day is quite wide: portraits, event, products, food, children, landscape, etc.
